Morristown, Tn. Thanksgiving national Nov. 24-26th 2006                 As a team we had a low turn out for this race, that didn’t stop us from having a good time though. 35 &  over expert had 4 racks on Saturday and 3 racks on Sunday. I faired ok on Saturday going 2,2,3 in motos and then 5th in my semi. Sunday I didn't make it out of moto’s. Time to step up the training. My legs were rubber.
Todd road well considering the amount of beer between Tuesday and Sunday. 2 thirds for the weekend. Todd and Tom Ritz did a wonderful job with the track. It was nice to see a different layout with the jumps. It definitely wasn’t a “cookie cutter track”.
Ken showed up for Sunday only and showed Brian Gagnon that he is a force to be reckoned with (he kept Brian from 2 perfects).  3rd from gate 7 with a hangover.
Andy and Matt showed up after taking a year or more off. Both seemed out of their element, and I must say I know how they feel. Albany was the same way for me. It’s a long hard process to come back after taking that much time off. We welcome them both back and it was great to have them there. Sorry for the over packed hotel room guys!
That leaves Russ… Russ rode like Russ in his first moto. After that things went downhill. Chain problems have plagued Russ for about 2 weeks now and in his 3rd moto it happened again. Russ had to pump his way to 5th in the 3rd round. Being a little nervous Russ didn’t go all out in the main and only managed a 5th. Russ managed to muster another 5th on Sunday (to late a night on Saturday). Russ owes most of the riders in Morristown an apology for being an ass! If you weren’t there and just have to know what happened email me.
Our next race will be Murfreesboro, Tn. ABA pro race, after that it’s back to Morristown.
Man I almost forgot about Clarence. He managed to ride like his old self again (Albany must have been a fluke). For some reason he thought he should run a really small gear so that he could wear himself out by the first turn! Clarence and I had a long talk and he is no longer allowed to make gear choices by himself! He says he is training for Morristown in March, I can’t wait to see this…

I would like to announce the addition of a new sponsor to our ever growing lineup. We are proud to add Atomlab to our chosen sponsors. We have all been using their pedals for year now maybe we can do them some justice!

NBL Fall Classic Moto Filler race report.

Moto Filler debuted their new plates, jersey's and their new frame sponsor this weekend. With all of this new stuff comes the new name as well. Moto Filler/ HRPdesigns/ Clayborn! God that's a long name.
Albany was my first race back and it showed. You can tell by my skill I belong in expert but if you watch my speed I should be in rookie! I will train... Russ Thompson dominated 40-44 cruiser. He would of had 2 perfects except for one tiny mistake in his first moto, I bet he doesn't go wide in the first turn again! Todd Langdon made his main but swears it was luck, Bill and Dee both made their cruiser mains, if Dee had been smiling any harder she would have ripped her jaw open. She had a really great weekend and seemed to have a ton of fun! Riley was adjusting to his new Clayborn and didn't ride the way he wanted to, but once he gets used to the new ride it's on. Andy Bestering can ride anything you throw at him but just can't hold it together for the main in 17-24X. Then again that class has most of the NBL members in it alone!
Clarence Keeler... proved he can pedal more than five times 2 seconds and a blown chain in moto's eventually got him to the main were we saw the real Black Thor... he sat down after the first jump! At least he pedaled....
Pete Wolfinger and Bill Young decided to race 35 & Over Novice on Saturday for some reason (sanity leaves the brain after 50). Both had a blast and Pete actually made it to the semi... A little training and I bet he could beat Clarence...
The track was great except for the rhythm section and the track builder has been given enough grief so I will leave that one alone... Sunday it rained...stopped raining...they uncovered the track...it rained allot... race cancelled same points as Saturday. See you next time.
As a team we did ok for the first National of the year. We have a few areas to step it up but hey we are about fun so who cares if we didn't get first right?
As always thanks to our sponsors who make all this possible!

Oct. 19, 2006

Good luck to everyone going to Albany.

Oct. 15, 2006

I would like to welcome BCTZ as our newest sponsor. They do pre screen t-shirts as well as custom order shirts. Click the link on the right and check them out!

I would like to welcome our newest team member aboard. Prof. Ken Spring of Nashville Tn. has joined the Moto Filler crew. Ken rides in the 30-34 X and Cruiser class for now. He will be joining me in the old guys class soon though. We think he will make a nice addition to the team. Ken is currently recovering from a broken hand/ wrist that he acquired at the NBL grands. We hope to see him on the track soon.

Sept. 27, 2006

The Alabama State Championship is this Saturday in Dothan. Everyone should come attend and hang out even if you aren't racing. It will be fun!!

Good luck to everyone going to The NBL grands this weekend! I will see you there.

Also look for big changes from Team Moto Filler in 2007!

2006 NBL Grand National

This year was a bit different for me. I didn’t arrive till late Friday night, due to hooking a free ride from Russ. At least I wasn’t racing, Russ had to race with only pro warm-up to get used to the track! My time was to be spent helping Todd with track maintenance. An easy job if you do it right.
I didn’t get to ride the track but from what I could tell it was the best to date. Lots of flow and fast. I won’t bore you with the nitty gritty. Brandon Pyper is a straight up bad ass! Perfect in moto’s on 20” and cruiser. I think he was perfect in everything leading to the main on cruiser.  In his 20” main It was pretty much all his from start to finish. In his cruiser he blew his gat and got shut down in the first straight. By the time they made it to the last straight rhythm it was all Brandon and Ezell. Brandon needed about 10 more feet of track and he could passed Ezell but second was enough to take the overall title.
The rest of the team was smoking hot in their moto’s but just feel apart somewhere between moto’s and main’s. Notable standouts would be Andy Belsterling and Stuart Harrison (our resident sandbagger).  Both were on fire till their semi’s and then both had problems with the pack and just barely missed the transfer spot.  Pete Wolfinger was missed and we hope to see him on the track soon along with Todd and Taylor who both took this season off to take care of a few things. I must note that Russ looked fantastic for someone who had no practice. Straight seconds in moto’s then someone decided he need to smack the pavement. Next year…
Overall it was a great weekend with lots of great racing. Oh and did I mention that Barry Nobles has arrived in Elite! From lane 8 in the main he passed everyone down the second straight and in the pro section, then took Randy Stumpfhauser in the rhythm. If he had of had 3 more feet he would of taken first ahead of DR. It was the most action packed main I have ever seen! Big props to you Barry keep it up!
I hope everyone who attended had a good time, I know I did. We will see you in 2007 starting in Albany Georgia October 21-22. Jump up and down and cheer for us.

Aug. 9th

I don't have specifics but it seems a good time was had at East Moline for a few of the Moto Filler team and a few ex Moto Fillers. If you know details or happen to have any video give it!!!!!!!!!!!! I promise i won't post the video...

Russ had a good weekend gaining something like 27 points as he heads to the grands. All that training, tuna and fiber seems to be paying off. Now if we can just figure out which combination of steroids he is on...

I'm kidding, Russ would never use the stuff, especially since he is about to turn 40!

Aug. 5th

OK Jesse we know you don't ride for Welham, but you do in fact ride for Doghouse racing. So do i need to inform your team mates that your sleeping around?

jesse

Aug. 3rd

Good luck to the Moto Fillers (and everyone else) going to East Moline this weekend.

July 7th

Everyone please send out some good vibes to Sam Hamm. He broke his collar bone at Thursday's gate practice. He goes into surgery on Monday. Guess he will heal just in time for the grands...

July 4th

Lets see who have i forgotten to mention anybody else lately...

Happy 4th.

Matt, Riley and Eric had a wonderful time at Woodward. Matt learned tailwhips, Riley learned to flip and no one has told what Eric did other than do gate starts... must be a big secret!

June 27th

This is a direct quote from an email i received!

I just wanted to let everyone know that I, Andy Belsterling won the 18-21 expert class main on sunday at the Oak Mountain regional. I would normally be modest about such a win but unfortunately nobody cared enough (joking!) to post the news on the Moto Filler web site so I figured I would let everyone know haha.

The rest of Moto Filler had a good showing as well. I think everyone made there main and of course had a good time.

June 21st

Seems I have been slacking in my duties as team manager and web site guru. I forgot to mention what a wonderful job Brandon Pyper and Russ Thompson did defending the MF team in Hendersonville a few weeks ago. They rode into town took names kicked ass and left...
What’s new right?

The Oak Mountain Regional was this past weekend and it was a good weekend of racing. Team moto filler had a great weekend with Brandon and Russ being combined together and dominating the class. Riley Smith was looking good as well and Bill Young well what can we say about the old man other than we love him...

Team Moto Filler would like to wish Landel Odum and William Shams a get well soon. Both riders broke their leg on Sunday.

June 2nd

I have absolutely nothing of any value to post. Oh who am I kidding I have nothing but this nonsense to post!

May 28th

Well better late than never as they say...
Stu I am sorry it has taken me so long to get this up.

Our very own Moto Filler and HRP owner Stuart Harrison raced in his first ABA NAtional a couple of weeks ago. The Dixieland National will never be the same. I guess not taking any single plate orders has allowed Stu to get some track time in since he waxed the completion! Many congrats to you HRP man and if you would like to see Allot of pics of Stu in action head on over to Georgia BMX and you can see several. Many more than a 36 Intermediate should have!

May 14th

I may have already posted this awhile back but I am going to repeat it if I did. Pete Wolfinger our oldest member (and probably the best) and a good friend of mine had to take time off this season for personal problems. He is now back in full swing and training for the NBL Grands. He recently informed me that he capped out in November and was ready to repeat his title! I want to welcome him back to racing and good luck on repeating that number 1 title (although there is no luck needed).

May 12th

It had been two years since my last trip to Nashville. I still have panic attacks thinking about the HUGE step-up down the first straight. This year Tom Ritzenthaler was summoned to do a rework on the track. Tom did some pretty extensive re-constructive surgery on the track. The big step-up remained, but gained some much needed backside. Then a big table was inserted at the entrance to turn one. From turn one to the finishline the track was totally rebuilt. The second straight was sweet. It had great flow and was rollabe or you could get as much airtime as you required. The Hip-turn was taken out and replaced with a 90o turn, a short straight and another 90o turn. Then you shot down the rhythms to the finishline. The track was shorter, the second straight flowed better and the HUGE step-up seemed to have mellowed in its old age.

The week of the race, the weather sucked! It rained all week on Nashville. Friday it cleared up and it was beautiful Saturday. However, rain moved back in Saturday night. There were several who pulled and went home as they were expecting a rainout. Well guess what, it didn’t rain all night. Sunday the track was OK and racing started on time.

Barry Nobles was in charge of Pro Open Saturday and Sunday. John Andrews took 4th on Saturday, and 5th on Sunday. Brandon Pyper was ON FIRE on both 20” and Cruiser. Brandon had perfects on both Saturday. He had perfects on the Cruiser Sunday but took 2nd in the main on 20”. Russ and Stu made their main on Saturday, Russ consumed mass quantities of adult beverages Saturday night. Ken Spring invited us over to his apartment for some grilled burgers, brats, beverages and a unique card game! We had our doubts about his ability to race on Sunday. Well he now has a new pre-race routine because he did better on Sunday. Riley Smith got 2nd in the Main Saturday. He had perfects in motos Sunday and 2nd in the Main. His Mom Dee raced on Saturday. In the 3rd moto Dee got a little squirrelly over the step-up. The rear wheel bucked up and the seat slapped her in the butt. Dee went down but got right back up. Riley was watching, and when his mom went down, he took off like a rocket running down to where she crashed. Eric Scudamore did not make the main on Saturday, but got 3rd on Sunday. Bill Young did not make it out of motos on Saturday. He bailed for Sunday and took photos.

Overall the track was great. There were only 103 motos. There were only 11 Florida riders. Believe it or not, Florida scheduled a State Qualifier the same weekend. Andy Uptain and Matt showed up Saturday to hangout some. Oh yeah I almost forgot, Hank “Crash Dummy” Smith crashed BIG over the step-up in practice. After that he was seen brake checking it in every moto. It was a great and wonderful weekend as usual and if you missed it then you should be ashamed of yourself.
Pictures are here. Pictures and story by Bill Young.

April 29th

Team Moto Filler in conjunction with Alabama BMX will be raffling a Brand new custom color Welham Cruiser to raise money for the Sate riders to go to the presidents cup. You will be able to buy tickets at the remaining Alabama State Qualifiers. Spend some money, help us go to Ohio and maybe get a free frame!

Welham Cruiser
Seen in it's glorious custom color Corinthian Leather! It will also come with stickers we just haven't decided on a color yet.

April 13th

Good luck to everyone going to Fla. for the Easter Classic. Oh and I have been released from the Doc. so i can now ride again! Now if I can just get off in time to get to gate practice...

April 8th

Turns out our own version of the wrecking ball got two perfects on 20 in Jacksonville. Congrats Brandon now lets see it on cruiser!

April 1st

OK so it seems I do have some news to tell. It turns out that my pinched nerve was caused by a slipped disk! The back doc has been diligently working me back into a straight line and all should be well soon. But oh god the pain!!!!

March 30th

I have no news so I'm just going to say hi and thanks for visiting. Sorry for the lack of decent reading material. I have lame team mates that refuse to write stories of the races we attend, and since I'm not racing this season nothing gets done! Have a wonderful weekend!

March 16th

Ok the Photos from Dothan are up. Of course you will have to mill through the gallery to find them...

March 14th

Well I finally have some photos from Dothan, not that I have them up. I just thought I would tell you I had them! I will attempt to get them up in the next couple of days. Turns out I have a pinched nerve and a torn muscle in my left hip. Needless to say I am doped up so working is a little hard, not to mention making sense and walking in a straight line. Oh the joys of being old!!

March 13th

I would like to welcome BMX HEX to the moto filler family.

March 12th

I have no news to tell. I am still waiting on pictures from Dothan, someday maybe...
I guess I could put up the pictures of Todd's shoulder, but I'm lazy... Todd had his surgery Friday and is doing well by the way. He should be at full potential in 6 very long months!
Well guess that's enough nonsense for today.

Feb. 27th

Welham Bikes is requesting everyone that rides a Welham send them a picture of there ride for the website. They would also like to have pictures of you riding your Welham. Please go to www.welhambikes.com for more info.Feb. 22nd

Ok lets see if i can remember everything that happened this past weekend in Dothan for the Southern Charm National. I arrived Friday afternoon with no idea where i was staying to find out that i had a chance to stay in a hotel room for free! That's all i needed to hear, got to the hotel and no room. After some nice words from Todd Langdon and Bill Young Todd, Russ and i all ended up with our own rooms. Yes you read correctly one room turned into three! That meant no listening to Todd snore! Life is good! Saturday 9:00 am it's about 72 degrees and looks like it will be a wonderful day for racing. Highlights include watching Jeff Upshaw completely destroy the track, he is way to smooth. Andy Bestering riding like a man possessed and both Stu and Russ making the 35-39 cruiser main. Around the time moto 3 rolled around the temp dropped about 30 degrees and the rain started. Mains were ran with a sprinkle, but they managed to finish the day with no wrecks! Hats off to the Dothan crew for a job well done. Not much happened on Sunday, it was cold, we had the HRP Designs/ Moto Filler cookout that was postponed from the night before and everyone that went to the Corbellies party rode with a hang over. The day went quick, for some...

Feb. 19th

Just got back from a fun filled weekend in Dothan Alabama at WiregrassBMX for the NBL Southern Charm National. We had allot of fun with a decent turnout. Saturday was a nice 72 degrees about 10:00 A.M. then everything went to...
Look for the rest in a few days along with pictures from the race and Todd Langdon's shoulder x-ray.

Jan. 22

OK boys and girls it's now official. Johnny Andrews has joined the pro ranks and made his first main! From what i know he only made it on Sunday but i will give more info as i get it. Congrats man you deserve it!!

Jan. 16th

The Southern Charm National at Wiregrass BMX in Dothan will be turning back the clock for their National February 18-19 2006. Alabama BMX Association in conjunction with HRPDesigns is bringing back the Trophy Dash. On Saturday February 18, we will take the main winners from the following classes:
16 expert
17 expert
18-21 expert
22-29 expert
30-34 expert
35 & over expert
15 minutes after the mains are finished these winners will draw gate assignments for a one moto winner take all dash. There will be a $250.00 cash purse to the winner. So if you think you are fast then you need to come to the Southern Charm National and prove it!

They need two more guys so it will be a full gate and much better racing action!

Jan. 5

I have no news... I need some news, there has to be something to post about us or this state. Oh wait there will be money to win at the Dothan National in Feb. Lots of Money, well lots for some of us! It's for the Ams, not the Pro's so come get some!
Oh and happy new year, now go ride something!

Dec. 30th

I would like to send out a special congratulation to Robert Rainey for his new sponsor with Kappa Bikes. So your going to get a pink and purple stripped frame right?
